South Lake County Fire Protection District Chooses RadioMobile for Mobile Tracking and Communication

New AVL system reduces response times and improves resource tracking and connectivity

SAN DIEGO – Nov. 10, 2021 – RadioMobile, Inc., a provider of mobile data communications technology to Fire and EMS, announced that the South Lake County Fire Protection District (SLCFPD) has chosen to deploy RadioMobile’s mobile data communications system for automatic vehicle location and resource tracking. The new system will allow SLCFPD to share critical incident information such as resource location and status within the district as well as with CAL FIRE and other cooperating agencies.

“Because RadioMobile’s IQ Flex is a hosted service, we were able to get up and running very quickly,” said Paul Duncan, Division Chief. “SLCFPD is able to leverage the CAL FIRE system built by RadioMobile to improve operations and service to our Fire District at a lower cost than would have otherwise been possible. Additionally, the RadioMobile system provides a seamless integration with the CALFIRE Northrop-Grumman CAD system, and resources responding are able to receive live updates as callers continue to give Dispatchers updated information.”

SLCFPD is the third largest fire district in California encompassing 268 square miles of the southern portion of Lake County. Napa County bounds the District on the south, Sonoma County on the west, the Kelseyville Fire Protection District on the north, and the Lake County Fire Protection District on the north/east. The SLCFPD entered into a contract to provide personnel, and management services for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) in 2000. The District currently staffs Cobb, Middletown, and Hidden Valley Stations with a minimum of two response personnel at each location serving approximately 12,000 residents.

The SLCFPD solution includes IQ Flex , a hosted service hosted and maintained by RadioMobile that provides an IP interface to the computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system and relays dispatch messages and status updates between the CAD and the responding units. Each mobile unit is equipped with a tablet running RadioMobile’s IQ Mobile Tablet software providing real-time incident dispatching, mapping and navigation, vehicle locations, status updates, and mobile messaging.

“We are happy to have SLCFPD join our family of fire & EMS clients,” says Jim Moore, CEO at RadioMobile. “With IQ Flex, we eliminated the need to purchase, install and maintain servers and software on-site, making it easier for them to get the system up-and-running quickly.”

RadioMobile’s IQ Flex is a hosted subscription service designed to meet the needs of small and medium sized Fire & EMS agencies. IQ Flex provides state-of-the-art connectivity between CAD and AVL systems, fire stations, and mobile units via a highly reliable, redundant and resilient communications network which includes LTE, LMR, and satellite.
