SAN DIEGO – July 12, 2021 – PRLog — RadioMobile, a provider of mobile data communications technology to Fire and EMS, announced that Kern County Fire Department has chosen to deploy RadioMobile’s IQ Fire Station Alerting System (IQ FSAS) in 47 fire stations and facilities throughout Kern County, California.
“We were looking to replace our outdated, serial-based FSA with a modern IP-based FSA system that could be implemented without disrupting current operations,”
The Kern County Fire Department (KCFD) provides fire protection services for an area that spans over 8,000 square miles with a population of over 500,000 citizens. More than 546 uniformed firefighters are stationed in 47 fire stations and facilities throughout Kern County. Added to this, KCFD has 14 Mutual Aid Agreements with neighboring fire suppression organizations to further strengthen the emergency services available to its customers.
“We chose RadioMobile’s IQ FSAS because of its convenient plug-n-play design,” said Zach Wells, the KCFD Battalion Chief manages the FSA project. “IQ FSAS also gives us the ability to expand the system’s capabilities as our operational needs change and grow.”
The KCFD solution includes the IQ FSAS server, located in the County’s Emergency Communications Center, which provides an IP interface to the CAD and relays dispatch messages and status updates between the CAD and the fire station. Each station is equipped with a Command Desk Terminal that receives these messages and executes step-by-step instructions based upon the type of alert and each station’s unique requirements. These instructions are relayed to the Fire Station Control Unit that controls the peripherals including lights, speakers, turnout timers, bay doors and other equipment. A rip-n-run printer immediately prints out the dispatch information in under a second, guaranteeing that responders have the exact detail of the incident as they are heading out the door. This all happens within seconds of the actual dispatch ensuring that the right people are alerted and arrive at the scene as quickly as possible.
“We are happy to have Kern County Fire Department join our family of fire & EMS clients,” says Jim Moore, CEO at RadioMobile. “With IQ FSAS, they now have a modern FSA system that can meet their needs both now and well into the future and can grow into a fully integrated mobile AVL system.”
RadioMobile’s IQ FSAS seamlessly integrates with RadioMobile’s in-vehicle mobile data computers (MDCs), so supervisors and responders always know the exact location and status of emergency apparatus and personnel.
